Good Will Hunting (1997)

Title:  Good Will Hunting (1997)

Classification: PG
Running time: 2hours

Genre: Drama, Indie Film

Description: This is a film about Will Hunting, a mathematical genius, who decides not to push himself to the extent of what he is able to handle. That is until he is confronted by a professor at M.I.T, where Will works, and decides to help Will reach his potential. Will has had a dysfunctional upbringing in middle class slums. All of his friend are disadvantaged as well.

Review: Character development is extremely well done in this movie. It is through the characterisation of Will Hunting that explore how moments can help shape or prevent an understanding of belonging. The audience watch as Will has to lower the wall that he has built around him as a defence mechanism and allow someone to challenge him mentally and emotionally. The audience can resonate with the film through its themes of belonging, love and relationships.

Rating: 9/10
